Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County Receives $5,000 Donation from Advance One Day
FORT MYERS, FL (October 5th, 2015) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County (BGCLC) received $5,000 at the Advance One Day conference held on October 2, 2015. The proceeds from the donation will help continue the BGCLC’s vision of providing a safe place for Lee County’s youth to learn and grow while providing life-enhancing programs and character development experiences.
Advance One Day is a fun, practical, and interactive one-day intensive leadership conference focused on helping businesses in Southwest Florida succeed in our community. The conference is for leaders who want to position their teams to succeed in business and leadership, and see what truly takes to get businesses to the next level.
Shannon Lane, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County, says, “We could not have been more surprised, grateful, and thrilled to have Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County designated as the non-profit chosen by Advance One Day! We rely upon the generous support of individuals, corporations and foundations in order to sustain and grow our services. With state funding being slashed this year, this was definitely a welcoming surprise.”
The Clubs are open each day after school (some until 8:30pm) and have a five core program curriculum, covering academics, character building, leadership, arts, sports and fitness, and healthy lifestyles. BGCLC’s most utilized program is Power Hour, which provides homework help and tutoring.
