Lights on Afterschool was a great success!
On Thursday, October 20th, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County celebrated Lights on Afterschool with the Afterschool Alliance and other clubs throughout the nation to raise awareness of the importance of afterschool programs for youth.
Too many young people are left to their own devices during after school hours, before parents return from work. Boys & Girls Clubs and other afterschool care programs provide an enriching environment where youth can enjoy safe, healthy, and educational activities focused on personal growth.
Throughout Lee County, our clubs celebrated Lights on Afterschool by participating in unique activities.
Here are some photographs and comments from the youth:
I enjoy the company of my new friends, completing my homework and really, really like arts and crafts.
Rylee (3rd grade)
I like being able to come and feel like part of a team. The staff and video games make the club a great place to be.
Alton (8th grade)
I like having my homework completed before leaving the club, because I have things to do when I get home.
Yesenia (7th grade)
I enjoy all the extra love and attention I get at the club.
