Character & Leadership
Character and Leadership Development – empowers youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with pothers, develop a positive self-image and good character, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others cultures. This core area includes the following programs:
Youth of the Year – This youth recognition program for Club members honors those who are committed to service to club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; and poise and public speaking. Units choose a Youth of the Month. Those youth then qualify for the Youth of the Year. Youth of the years receive scholarships and are asked to represent the organization at various community functions.
Keystone Club – Keystone Clubs are chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 14-18. Keystone Clubs elect officers and implement activities in six areas: service to Club and community, character and leadership development, education and career exploration, unity, free enterprise and social recreation.
Torch Clubs – Torch Clubs are smaller chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 11-13. Torch Club assists Club staff to meet the special character development needs of younger adolescent at this critical stage of their development. Torch Club members elect officers and work together in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.
